Rabbi Daniel Levin returns to Temple Beth El after three years serving
as the spiritual leader of Temple Emanu-El of West Essex in Livingston,
New Jersey. In his three years with the congregation, Rabbi Levin
worked to build a dynamic program of adult education and outreach
to interfaith families. Rabbi Levin also worked to renovate much
of the congregation’s ritual practice, initiating a comprehensive
review and discussion of the synagogue’s ritual practice.
Rabbi Levin was active in the Livingston community, working to create
a community task force to create a more spiritually and emotionally
healthy environment for children and families. In addition, Rabbi
Levin chaired the September 11 Commemoration Committee for the town.
Recently, United Jewish Communities of Metrowest named Rabbi Levin
one of the “Forty Jewish Leaders under 40”.
Before coming
to Temple Emanu-El, Rabbi Levin served as Associate Rabbi of Temple
Beth El of Boca Raton. In his five years here, Rabbi Levin coordinated
and revamped Temple Beth El’s adult-education program, offering
nearly thirty different learning opportunities annually to more
than 300 students. He also created many of the Temple’s outreach
programs to interfaith families and those who are studying to become
Jews-by-choice. He worked closely with the congregation’s
young families and with the religious school and youth group programs.
In addition, Rabbi Levin created a number of alternative worship
opportunities for Shabbat, holidays, and the High Holidays.
Rabbi Levin
was also extremely active in the Boca Raton community. He served
on the boards of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County,
Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service, and the Jewish Education Commission
of South Palm Beach County. He also served as the president of the
Greater Boca Raton Religious Leaders Association for two years.
In addition, Rabbi Levin worked closely with Jews in recovery from
drug-addiction and alcoholism as rabbinic advisor to the local chapter
of JACS.
