TGIS (Thank God It’s Shabbat) is Temple Beth El’s creative exploration of Shabbat. We give you several choices in how you want to celebrate with us. This month, we’re going to the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge to worship outdoors while we learn about the natural world and the impact our activities have on it.
The morning’s activities will begin with a brief waterside Shabbat service at 9:30. Afterward, we’ll break into groups for the other sessions:
Birdwatching - Walk along with expert birder. Andrew Furman, who can identify native and migratory species and tell you about their habits and habitats.
Canoeing - Take a guided tour of the backcountry waters of the refuge. Learn about the unique aquatic ecosystem. (Canoe experience required.)
Yoga - Put your mind and body at peace amid nature’s peace. Join instructor Suzy Garfinkle Chevrier for a workshop and workout in the basics of Yoga.
There’s a $5 per vehicle charge (pay at the gate) to enter the refuge, and a $3 per person charge (pay in advance) to go on the canoe tour. There’s no charge for other activities.
Make sure to bring along:
Binoculars
Camera
Insect repellent (just in case)
Sunscreen
